If you find yourself needing to sue someone, or to defend yourself if you are being sued, you need solicitors who know what they are doing. Solicitors who can ensure not only that your interests are properly protected, but also act in a cost effective way.

Naturally we will keep you fully informed of what is happening at all stages and advise you if difficult or unpleasant decision have to be made. We won't let you throw good money after bad, if it looks as though costs are likely to be counterproductive.
Are any cases not worth
claiming or fighting?
Unfortunately, if your claim (apart from personal injury) is for £5,000 or less, you don't get your legal costs, even if you win.
These are dealt with in the Small Claims Court where you will be encouraged to claim or defend without lawyers. You may have to take a commercial decision about the value of fighting.
We find that it often pays to use an experienced solicitor who can save you time and stress — not to mention money!
What happens if I win,
but am not paid?
We can take proceedings to instruct bailiffs to seize their property and sell it to recover what is owing. Alternatively we can get a court order for payment out of their wages, or we can get a different order against their home to prevent it being sold and, if necessary, get an order for its sale to recoup what is owed to you.
What will all this cost?
This depends on the size of the claim, the issues involved and whether the claim is defended. So if you win and your claim exceeds £5,000 you get most, if not all, of your costs paid by the loser. The sting in the tail is that if you lose you pay both sets of costs. That is why careful thought has to be given to the risks involved. This is where our experience comes in.
